I got caught up in the twilight magic of this stretch of Oklahoma, just west of the Arkansas river. Dewey invited me to drive into the mare pasture, and the mares and foals started trailing out of the scrub and rolling pasture. Here are some pictures of really nice looking foals, on a magic Oklahoma evening.
The mares started approaching us as soon as we arrived. Most of the mares are bred back for next spring.
These stud colts were raised by the same mare. One was adopted when it's mare died.
Dewey said that this foal was probably sold, that there was a lady coming to pick him up in a few days.
