Covers many topics involving horses
I am a wrap around therapist for an autistic 13 year old boy who cannot speak. He loves horses.
We use this book everyday for our drills. This book has so many facts that are uncomplicated,
but informative. It has beautiful pictures in it. Sometimes we just look at the pictures of
horses because they are so beautiful. It covers almost every topic about horses. I have
learned a lot about horses. My client has learned a lot through this book.

An Instant Guide to Horses: More Than 100 of the World's Breeds Described and Illustrated in
Full Color (Instant Guide.)

Good value
Each breed has a color illustration (not picture), size, and four 3 sentence descriptions on
characteristics, history, uses, and similar breeds. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have
the Foxtrotter, which I was interested in. This seems to be a good quick reference guide,
not much depth.

International Encyclopedia of Horse Breeds
- by Bonnie L. Hendricks / Univ of Oklahoma Press, Hardcover, 486 pages (January 1996)
Reviewer: Michelle F from Tennessee, USA, August 28, 2000
The best, most complete horse breeds book I have ever seen!
Bonnie Hendricks has gone far beyond what any other horse breed researcher has done...she has contacted
every breed association she possibly could. She has written with far more detail, greater
accuracy, and on many more breeds than any other horse book I have seen. Her intelligent ideas
inserted into some breed descriptions are well worth noting. This is a MUST-HAVE for the serious
equine enthusiast! It has definitely spoiled my appetite for any other horse book that attempts
to describe the breeds. Thanks Bonnie, we needed this book!

An entirely different kind of knot book, this compact, practical guide
takes full advantage of color photography to teach readers how to tie 70
of the most useful knots they can know. Unlike illustrations, the photos
show every step looking over the shoulder of the tier. Color-coding
makes the ropes easy to distinguish. 647 photos.

The New Encyclopedia of the Horse
- Elwyn Hartley Edwards, Bob Langrish (Photographer), Kit Houghton (Photographer), Sharon Ralls Lemon
-- Hardcover, 440 pages, DK Publishing (April 2001)
Book Description
In this superb expanded and updated volume, equestrian expert Elwyn Hartley
Edwards traces the evolution of the horse, covering every major breed of horse and pony
as well as the contribution the horse has made to civilization -- in the wild, at work,
at war, and in sport and recreation. Chronicling the history of the horse, The New Encyclopedia
of the Horse encompasses the early domestication of the horse. This expanded edition features
new information on Western riding as well as classical riding styles, and current international
sporting events. There are also completely new chapters on horse management, training, and
equipment. Visual Breed Guide: There are more than 150 of the world's major breeds of horse
and pony photographed in specially commissioned full-figure portraits as well as hundreds of
action shots. The origin, history, and uses of each breed are explained, and each breed is
brought to life by historical anecdotes and fascinating, little-known facts. Outstanding
specimens of familiar as well as obscure breeds are featured, including Dutch Warmbloods
and Camargues, Icelandic and Timor Ponies, Morgans and Shetlands, Andalucian and Lusitano,
and the Cutting Horse. Brand New Chapters: The new sections on horse management, training,
and equipment explain the basics of the proper care of the horse. Information is also included
on farriers, feeding, grooming, horse behavior, training techniques, and which equipment to use,
including saddles, bridles, and bits. Truly encyclopedic in scope, this is the essential
reference for every horse lover.
